Reminiscent of old Las Vegas lounge of the '60s, this El Cerrito mainstay is known for offering a wide range of alcohol selections (14 types of tequila, 21 types of vodka, and 15 types of whiskey) and karaoke on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. But it's not all just diddies and drinks; this place has history. After opening in 1940 in Albany, just after World War II, Mel-O-Dee moved to Cerrito in 1969 and has since retained some of its authentic, groovy wallpaper.
