If you’re lusting after larb, the (unofficial) national dish of Laos, Lan Larb is a good place to start. Chef Ratchanee Sumpatboon’s restaurant is an homage to the Isan region’s take on the spicy minced-meat salad with rice and herbs. The Northeastern dish comes in a few varieties, including pork, beef, chicken, catfish, or duck (go for the duck), and is bathed in lime and fish sauce then sprinkled with chiles, lemongrass, red onion, cilantro, and scallions. The Murray Hill location is the cushier of the two branches (the one in Soho is a more sparse stop), with cherrywood ceilings and plush banquettes in beige and brown.
