Sauce & Barrel
Pizza and cocktails are taken seriously at Sauce & Barrel, a bi-level, 150-seat Italian-American restaurant in FiDi. The thin-crusted pies here cover traditional and exploratory ground, with a tangerine-gorgonzola version and a smoky mozzarella-honey pie standing out on the menu. The cocktail program, designed by a mixologist veteran of Betony and The Modern, has a distinctly Italian flavor, with prosecco and Campari aperitivos serving as a prelude to sips like a lavender- and basil-kissed gimlet. That's not to say a glass of Italian red wouldn't do just fine.
