Mae

Portland
Southern Food Restaurant
$$$$

Mae is another BYOB supper club drawn to Portland for its fresh produce, but what makes it different is the Appalachian cuisine straight from a Southern family's recipe book. Open three days a week, enjoy the eclectic, comfortable atmosphere in what you might mistake for grandma's charming country cottage with your 10-course family style sampling supper or Sunday brunch. Pickling and cooking with fat are both extremely important to the refined yet soulful menu that has featured options like Corn Bread & Pot Likker (braised greens drowning in broth with cornbread and barrel aged hot sauce), succulent buttermilk brined, skillet-fried chicken, Autumn Succotash (borlotti beans, sour corn, sweet peppers, and kale in a country ham jus), and the decadent pound cake with vanilla bean whipped cream.
