Eleven Madison Park
When Eleven Madison Park reopened during the pandemic, chef Daniel Humm redesigned his menu and mission. Since then, the highly-acclaimed fine-dining restaurant has been meat-free and offers a fully vegan 8-10 course tasting menu. Filled with ingenious plant-based creations that model how the textures and flavors of meat can be achieved without animal products, fans can also get a taste of the restaurant at home with the recently-launched meal kits, Eleven Madison Home.
When Eleven Madison Park reopened in May following months of closure during the pandemic, chef Daniel Humm had redesigned his menu and mission. With plenty of industry-wide awards, the fine-dining restaurant now brandishes a fully vegan menu filled with ingenious plant-based creations that model how the textures and flavors of meat can be achieved without animal products. The restaurant also rewards the community for ditching meat by providing five meals to food-insecure New Yorkers for every one meal purchased in its dining room, employing the same fresh produce used in its primary kitchen.
The infamous lunch in which Big tells Carrie he’s engaged to Natasha (Bridget Moynahan) in season 2 happens at EMP, back when it was still part of the Danny Meyer family of restaurants. The swanky spot originally opened in 1998 in the MetLife Building by Meyer but eventually changed hands when Will Guidara and chef Daniel Humm purchased it from the restaurateur and in 2010, completely remodeled the space. Over the next ten or so years, the upscale tasting menu garnered many awards and widespread acclaim. But in mid 2019, Humm bought longtime partner Will Guidara out, just before COVID hit in early 2020, departing to take his Make it Nice family of restaurants elsewhere. EMP reopened this June with the debut of chef Humm’s entirely vegan tasting menu priced at $335 per person.
