Since opening during the initial summer of the pandemic, wife-and-husband duo Ria and Kevol Graham have created a tropical paradise of sorts near the Williamsburg waterfront with Kokomo, a restaurant focused on Pan-Caribbean flavors. With Ria’s industry background in Caribbean restaurants and Kevol’s hospitality experience in events of over 13 years, from decor to menu, the culinary destination they’ve created continues to be a much needed (and appreciated) place of celebration for New Yorkers. Dine on Crispy Fish Tacos, Coconut Curry Mussels, signature wood-fired flatbreads in five varieties like Wild Roasted Mushroom; Slow-Braised Oxtail, and dedicated vegan selections like Lentil Meatballs and Pasta in a Cashew Raiso sauce. Pair it with cocktails like the Rude Gyal (rum, coconut cream, nutmeg).

Delivering all the tropical energy we’re in need of right now, and inspired by island culture, year-old Brooklyn addition Kokomo offers a stellar take on Caribbean cuisine within a vibrantly-hued indoor/outdoor space. Couple Ria and Kevol Graham are behind the place, and it’s here one will find staples like jerk chicken and crispy fish tacos, alongside dishes with Asian accents, like gochujang wings. Transport yourself to the islands by grabbing a seat on their lush greenhouse patio.

Kokomo opened this summer and is still fairly new to the WIlliamsburg food scene, but judging from how quickly reservations fill up for brunch and dinner, it’s already made its mark. Owned by couple Ria and Kevin Graham, this Caribbean spot is situated just steps away from Marsha P. Johnson State Park and serves one of the best flatbreads available in the city. If you’re going for brunch, don’t pass up on Koko’s Chicken and Waffles, which comes with a sorrel scotch bonnet sauce, house made syrup and coconut whipped cream. And for drinks, go for literally anything on their cocktail menu.
Cost: Brunch entrees $8-32, dinner entrees $14-31
