This may be a burger list, but we have to admit that the shoestring fries at Metropolis almost steal the show—emphasis on “almost,” because they also whip up a divine burger. For more than 25 years, the quaint South End restaurant has been a neighborhood delight, serving casual plates with a fine dining twist. Now back to The Burger, dry-aged beef gets the Applewood-smoked bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and housemade special sauce treatment, leaving you with a truly standout sandwich.
This South End stalwart isn’t about to let you down now. The restaurant is offering a $74 per person takeout menu for Christmas Eve, and it’s chock full of classics: butternut and apple bisque, duck confit, pomegranate-braised lamb shanks, bacon-wrapped scallops, and brioche dinner rolls with whipped butter. Add on some shrimp cocktail, a charcuterie and cheese plate, and the dark chocolate yule log, and you have a spread that surpasses anything you’d feel like whipping up at home.
