The 13 Best Donut Shops in San Diego
Ube may be big now, but it was just a twinkle in the food world when Nomad introduced this Filipino flavor back in 2014. As the name suggests, Nomad specializes in globally inspired breakfast staples like donuts, bagels, and coffee, all made from scratch daily. Other international flavors include banana miso and tumeric coconut milk alongside the more traditional maple and chocolate, plus a variety of vegan offerings.
You know and love their donuts, in globally inspired flavors like Ube Taro Coconut and Tamarind Banana Caramel, but don’t count out their Montreal-style bagels, made fresh daily in their wood-fired oven. Choose from an array of sweet and savory spreads, or use one as a base for an egg or house-cured salmon sandwich. Keep up with current flavors and specials by following the shop on Instagram.

Located in the heart of hipsterville, Nomad Donuts has been capturing the hearts of vegans and non-vegans with their eclectic flavors since 2014—think ube taro coconut, Mexican hot chocolate, and coffee piloncillo. Not into sweet treats? Try Nomad Donuts’ Montreal-style bagels, hand-made from scratch and boiled in agave-sweetened water before being baked to perfection in Nomad’s custom-built, wood-firing oven. They’re excellent with a schmear of vegan cream cheese, Nutella, or jam, or as a Caprese, vegan BLAT, or egg sandwich. Get there early, Nomad usually sells out of their most popular items early.
